Angryjournalist.com has started selling t-shirts. As well as this little number, with which I obviously disagree, you can get “journalists get laid (off)”, “editorial > ads”, “-30-” and “This is a comma splice, please stop doing it”.
Also, with regard to the “-30-” shirt, there’s a fascinating page of possibly untrue stories explaining the origins of this mark. The annotations are good, too:
“Some people believe that this is a reference to the bible (ignoring that we are talking about journalists here, which almost by definition rules out the theory), in that 30 silver pieces caused JC’s death”
The last one – X to end a sentence, XX to end a paragraph, XXX to end a story, XXX being 30 in Roman numerals, seems most likely. Does anyone know for sure?
